Robert C. Gutierrez is a native New Mexican, born and raised in the farming valley just north of Albuquerque, New Mexico. After graduating from high school in 1972, he worked at the Albuquerque Police Department as a police aide and later at the City of Albuquerque as a corrections officer. He graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology from the University of Albuquerque in May 1976.

He thereafter attended the University of New Mexico School of Law receiving his Juris Doctorate degree in May 1979. He was the1978-1979 recipient of the American Juris Prudence Award for Clinical Study. Mr. Gutierrez was admitted to the New Mexico Bar in 1979. In 1980 he was admitted to the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico and the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Upon graduation from law school, Mr. Gutierrez worked as an assistant city attorney for the City of Albuquerque where he initially prosecuted misdemeanors in Municipal and Metropolitan Courts. In 1980 he began handling the defense of numerous claims and lawsuits brought against the City or its employees under the New Mexico Tort Claims Act and the Federal Civil Rights Act. Ultimately, Mr. Gutierrez headed the civil division supervising assistant city attorneys and support staff and serving as legal counsel to the Albuquerque Police Department.

In May 1983, Mr. Gutierrez went to work as a trial attorney for the law firm of Miller, Stratvert, Torgerson & Brandt, P.A. He became a shareholder and director in 1985. Mr. Gutierrez remained at the Miller law firm handling complex litigation and trials in both state and federal courts while defending various individuals, companies and entities in all aspects of general tort liability; strict product liability; medical, dental and legal malpractice; employment law and civil rights.

Mr. Gutierrez joined the firm of Will Ferguson & Associates in March 2001. He now represents plaintiffs in wrongful death and personal injury claims arising from negligence, medical or dental malpractice, product liability and civil rights violations.

Bob has been married for 25 years to Barbara Albin. He has two adult children and a granddaughter. When he isn't spending time with family, Bob enjoys handyman work, hiking, camping, and golf.
