David M. Houliston was raised in Northern New Mexico (Santa Fe) and attended New Mexico State University where he obtained a degree in Economics/Finance in 1983. After a year of graduate school he entered law school at the University of New Mexico obtaining his law degree in 1987.

Mr. Houliston began his practice at a large insurance defense firm where he progressed from a summer law clerk to a trial lawyer in the firm’s litigation department. He became a partner/director before leaving to run the New Mexico office of a large regional law firm specializing in litigation. Mr. Houliston’s practice focused on the defense of catastrophic personal injury claims and complex cases including construction defect and medical device/drug litigation. Mr. Houliston was in charge of the firm’s litigation department and was counsel to numerous Fortune 500 companies and multi-national insurance carriers.

Mr. Houliston has tried over 100 trials all over the state of New Mexico at both the State and Federal Court level. He is a frequent lecturer on Trial Tactics And Techniques and enjoys an “AV” rating by Martindale-Hubbell — the highest rating available.

He has four children who enjoy his status as an ATM and chauffeur. When not funding their participation in various athletic activities, driving his children and teammates to games and practices, or coaching his children from the stands, Mr. Houliston enjoys golf, cooking, spending time with his children and remembering the days when he could actually play sports.
