Two drivers were pronounced dead after a head-on collision in Eddy County.
According to the report, 26-year-old Chad Rodriguez was driving on U.S. 285 prior to the crash. Around 11 a.m., a driver going the opposite direction crossed into Rodriguez’s lane and struck his vehicle head-on. The crash caused a fire, but the rep0rt didn’t say which vehicle was in flames. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and arrived after an unknown amount of time. Both drivers were pronounced dead.
While emergency personnel worked at the scene, officers began their investigation. At this time, it’s unclear what caused the driver to veer into oncoming traffic. Since both drivers were slain in the crash, it will take sometime before the toxicology reports are released. The identity of the other driver involved has not been identified at this time. Police only know that his vehicle was registered to the state of Texas. The crash is still under investigation and we will let you know the situation as it develops.
