Latrisha Laney is identified as the woman who was slain in a crash on I-10
Troopers with New Mexico State Police responded to the crash on I-10 near Deming. According to their report, Laney attempted to merge onto the eastbound lanes of I-10 just before the crash. While merging, Laney’s vehicle and a commercial vehicle collided, causing the vehicles to become intertwined near milepost 85. The impact of the crash forced both vehicles off the road and into the median. After an unknown amount of time, emergency personnel arrived at the scene, Sadly, 39-year-old Latrisha Laney was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators say Latrisha was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash.
There was no word about the driver of the commercial vehicle. It is likely that the semi-truck driver sustained only minor injuries in the crash. The collision is still under investigation and at this time there is no word on the official cause. Alcohol was not mentioned in the report, and the results of the toxicology report have not been released. The driver of the semi-truck is not facing punishment at this time, but this may change. Also, the family of Latrisha Laney may decide to file a wrongful death claim. We will let you know if any information is released.
