50-year-old Caesar Chavez has accepted plea deal that will leave him in prison for 21 years.
Chavez is accused of driving the wrong way on an Albuquerque road. Also, he was drunk at the time of the crash and it’s believed his impairment led to the crash. Chavez struck a car containing a family that was on their way home from a birthday party. Three people inside of the SUV died and one of them was a toddler. He was arrested at the scene for homicide with a vehicle, drunk driving and other charges.
In addition to serving jail time, he must also pay $20,000 in fees. The driver of the other vehicle was identified as Pablo Caldera-Quezada. He along with two other were pronounced dead at the scene my EMTs. His family is still mourning their deaths and they hope his sentencing will provide closure.
