Troopers with the New Mexico State Police are investigating a fatal three-car collision in southwest New Mexico.
According to the report, three vehicles were involved in a crash in Hidalgo County. The report stated that a passenger vehicle crashed into the back of a semi-tractor trailer. Then a third vehicle, collided with the second car, fatally wounding 71-year-old Jose Reyna. The report didn’t mention the identities of the other drivers involved because the crash is still under investigation.
Troopers at the scene obtained a statement from those involved, however, what was said was not told to the public. At this time, an official cause of the crash has not been determined but police have a pretty good idea. Alcohol was not mentioned in the report, so it was likely ruled out at the scene. Investigators say a dust storm played a role in the crash by limiting visibility. There is no further information about the crash. Check back in a few days for updates.
We offer our condolences to the family of Jose Reyna and hope they find a way to move forward after this devastating loss.
