Albuquerque Police are investigating a hit-and-run that took place on 3rd and Gold.
Police told news crews that they received two different calls in the area and sent units to respond to both. One call was about a shooting that took place in the area and the second was about an accident involving a pedestrian and vehicle. When officers arrived at the scene, they began talking to residents to try to figure out what happened. The person that was hit by the car was killed in the crash and the suspected driver returned to the scene was detained for questioning.
As of now, police have not been able to determine what caused the driver to hit the pedestrian but they were able to eliminate alcohol as a factor. They also say the shooting and the crash were unrelated and were unable to obtain any leads. No one else was injured in the crash and police haven’t said what charges the arrested person was booked on. With so many crashes and pending investigations in New Mexico, it will likely be a long time before any new information is released.
