Anthony Dorame was arrested for a DUI crash that injured two 18-year-old females.
The report stated Troopers with the New Mexico State Police attempted to stop Dorame before he caused the crash. Troopers spotted Dorame going the wrong way on Highway 84. Officers followed the vehicle on the other side of the road, hoping they could get his attention and stop him before it was too late. Unfortunately, there was nothing any of the troopers could do when Dorame’s Toyota crashed head-on into a Volkswagen containing to 18-year-old girls.
The officer following Dorame makes a U-Turn and then races towards the crash. He also calls in the crash and requests assistance from other emergency agencies. As a result of the crash, all of the occupants were pinned inside of their vehicles until help arrived. Firefighters arrived at the scene and began to work on freeing the girls. After a while of screaming, the girls were finally free. Firefighters also worked to extract Anthony Dorame from his vehicle. They had to use a chainsaw to free him.
After everyone was out of their vehicles, the two girls were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Officers found a bottle of Whiskey in Dorame’s car and concluded he was under the influence. He was arrested at the scene but is now on house arrest awaiting trial. He faces charges of great bodily harm and driving while intoxicated. We will provide updates when the trial begins.
