Emergency crews have reopened the eastbound lanes of I-40 after a crash involving a semi-truck.
According to the report, a semi-truck caused traffic to be diverted from Rio Grande Ave to Coors Blvd. Officers at the scene declined to give an official cause of the crash as it is still being investigated. Also, at least one person was injured in the crash and was taken to a hospital in Albuquerque for treatment. The condition of this person is unknown at this time.
Investigators with the APD are looking into the crash to determine the cause. Since the crash happened around 6 a.m., it could be possible the truck driver was tired. It’s not uncommon for truckers to drive long hours with little sleep. It will likely take a while for information to be released because the investigation will be long. Alcohol was not mentioned in the report so it was most likely ruled out at the scene.
Stay tuned for updates on the situation as we will release them as they become available.
