The Albuquerque Police department is searching for two separate drivers who hit a person and left the scene.
The report stated that a pedestrian attempted to run across traffic near the intersection of Coors and Quail. it was late at the time of the crash and the pedestrian was likely hard to see. While on the road, the pedestrian was struck by one vehicle and then another while laying in the road. Both drivers kept going without stopping to check on the person. It’s unclear who called the police, but by the time emergency personnel arrived, the pedestrian was already gone.
Both directions of Coors Blvd between Sequoia and Quail were closed while officers investigated. However, it was reopened shortly after. The report didn’t say if the person was carrying ID or if they’re next of kin has been notified. We will keep you updated as the story develops. At the scene, officers searched for any clues that can speak to the cars involved. However, at this time, the APD has no leads. The APD is looking for help from the community to help solve this case.
Also, forensic experts and medical examiners will likely check for trace materials on the person to see what information can be gained. We hope the person is identified quick and is given a proper burial. Also, we hope the family won’t be too overcome with grief to pursue justice.
