Arielle Lopez was arrested and charged with stealing a vehicle and injuring an innocent bystander.
The initial report stated that Arielle Lopez and Mark Perez were spotted in a stolen vehicle by a friend of the owner. The friend called 911 and alerted police to the location of the stolen vehicle. Police responded to the calls and when they arrived at the location, they witnessed the suspect car get into an accident. The crash was severe, but thankfully, everyone involved will live. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported the injured driver to the hospital for treatment.
Perez and Lopez tried to flee after the crash, but they were apprehended quickly by police. Lopez was arrested for receiving and driving the stolen vehicle. Also, police found a small amount of meth in the pocket of Perez. He was arrested on possession charges and other outstanding warrants. Since their arrest, they both have faced a judge and received punishment.
Lopez was denied bail and is still in Bernalillo County Jail awaiting sentencing. Perez was released on recognizance and is still free. He only faced punishment for possession of meth and no charges related to the stolen vehicle. We will provide updates on the charges and trial as they are released.
