The Bernalillo County Deputies are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash that took place on 4th Street and El Pueblo NW.
Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the intersection of 4th Street and El Pueblo N.W. where they saw a man lying on the ground. Paramedics were called to the scene and they took the man to University New Mexico Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver who hit the man was at the scene when deputies arrived, but that person’s identity has not been released. The driver likely gave a statement to police but at this time will not face criminal charges.
The crash is still under investigation but the official cause has not been determined. After questioning the driver, impairment was ruled out. The results of the toxicology for the pedestrian have not come in at this time. The next of kin for the slain pedestrian has not been reached at this time.
