Deputies with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office are investigating an auto-pedestrian crash on Parajito Road.
At this time, not much information is known about what led to the crash. However, we know the person who was hit by the car has died from their injuries. The initial report only stated that the person was killed as a result of the crash. Deputies at the scene were unable to determine the exact cause of the crash. They are still investigating the incident and at this time, the driver will not be facing criminal charges. However, this is subject to change in the following days.
Alcohol was not mentioned in the initial report, so it was likely ruled out at the scene by officers. The toxicology report of the person slain has not yet been released. Deputies are looking for witnesses to the crash to come forward and assist officers. At this time, the person has not been identified likely because the person’s next of kin has not been reached. Parajito Road and Coors Blvd were both closed while deputies conducted the investigation. It has since been reopened, but drivers should expect traffic to be slow.
We offer our condolences to the family of the person slain. We hope the person is identified quickly so they can receive a proper burial.
