18-year-old Domonic Rougemont is being held on a no-bond hold after a deadly crash in Albuquerque.
The night of the fatal crash, Rougemont stole a Jeep with five other individuals. Rougemont was the one behind the wheel and the one who decided to try and evade police. The initial report stated the stolen vehicle occupied by Rougemont and the five passengers was spotted by police. Officers then pursued the vehicle in hopes of catching the criminals. Roguemont decided that he was going to outrun to the police and ran several red lights trying to escape.
Unaware of the danger heading straight towards them, a man named D’Markus Blea and his girlfriend were in their vehicle. After running red lights, Rougemont crashed into the vehicle carrying Blea. Officers caught up to the wreckage and called medical personnel to the scene. While waiting for other emergency personnel to arrive, the suspects were arrested and taken to jail. After a courageous fight, D’Markus Blea succumbed to his injuries and passed.
Domonic Rougemont was also injured in the crash but was still able to face a judge. Two of the five passengers in the stolen vehicle were adults and they also faced the judge with Rougemont. Both adults agreed to pretrial detention. Domonic Rougemont is facing charges of armed robbery, aggravated fleeing from law enforcement, and possibly homicide charges.
