Albuquerque Police are investigating a six-car collision that happened on Eubank and Ventura.
According to the report, an Infinity was driving south on Eubank at high speeds. A Volkswagen was waiting at a traffic light when the speeding Infinity crashed into the back of it. The force of the crash caused the Volkswagen to strike two other vehicles before coming to a stop. The infinity also crashed into two separate vehicles before everything was over. Officers received many calls about the collision and all emergency personnel responded to the scene.
As of now, we know one person had to be taken to the University of New Mexico Hospital in critical condition. The initial report didn’t say if anyone else was injured in the crash, but medical personnel was spotted providing treatment to everyone. Officers at the scene conducted the investigation and came to the conclusion that the driver of the Infinity was under the influence at the time of the crash. However, police don’t believe alcohol was responsible for the impairment.
Officer has obtained a warrant for her blood and have charges pending based on the result of the toxicology test. Eubank from Ventura to Academy was closed for several hours while cleanup crews cleared the scene. The roadways are now open, but drivers are urged to be careful. There are no further updates on the crash. We will provide updates as they are released by the APD.
