A 58-year-old woman, her 30-year-old son, and 28-year-old daughter, all from Nageezi, were killed after a semi-truck collided with their car Thursday morning on U.S. 550, south of Bloomfield.
According to San Juan County Sheriff’s deputies, a semi-truck was pulling out of a parking lot onto U.S. 550 when a pickup truck headed northbound collided with it. A semi-truck pulling a flat-bed trailer, which was traveling southbound, braked to avoid the collision. The truck’s trailer crossed into northbound lanes and a passenger car collided with the trailer. The semi that had been pulling out of the store fled the scene.
Albuquerque accident plaintiff’s lawyer Will Ferguson is actively investigating this fatal crash. “This is as terrible a scenario as one could imagine, sadly only too typical of NM 550. It’s logical to assume that the guilty semi-driver had something to hide, whether it be drug and alcohol related, illegal cargo or issues with licensing, causing him to flee. We are confident that in this age of cameras and surveillance, the driver will be found. An active investigation will insure the driver and the company he works for, and possibly other parties, will be held responsible to the fullest extent that the law will allow” states Ferguson. Will Ferguson will continue to monitor the details of this crash as they become available.
