Albuquerque Police and Fire crews responded to an accident at Gibson and Ortiz.
Investigators are still looking into the crash and have not been able to determine an official cause. The report stated that one of the vehicles drifted from their lane striking another vehicle. Officers are still trying to determine what caused the driver to veer. Through the initial questioning, police were able to rule out impairment as a factor in the crash. However, speed and inattention are the more likely causes of the crash.
Neither driver faced punishment for the crash at the scene, this may change in the following day as evidence is processed. As a result of the crash, one person was spotted receiving treatment from EMTs at the scene. Luckily, the injuries sustained were non-life threatening. It’s unclear if the person injured was taken to the hospital for additional treatment. The intersection of Gibson and Ortiz was closed while emergency personnel worked on the scene. Now, the intersection is back open for your daily commute. We will provide updates on the story as they are released by the APD.
