Santa Fe County Sheriff’s released a report about a collision between two big-rigs.
The report stated that the southbound lanes of US 84 near US 285 were closed after a tanker truck crashed into the back of a commercial vehicle. According to the report, the driver of the tanker failed to slow and crashed into the back of a commercial vehicle carrying trash. As a result of the crash, the tanker caught fire and became engulfed in flames. Both drivers sustained injuries in the crash, but luckily, the injuries were non-life threatening.
The crash is under investigation by deputies in the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office and at this time, no official cause was given. The crash resulted in part of US 84 being closed while deputies investigated the crash. The driver of the tanker truck did not face punishment for his involvement in the crash. This may change in the following days as the evidence is processed and released.
