New Mexico State Police and Chaves County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-car crash on Yakima Road.
According to the report, two vehicles collided along Yakima Rd for an unknown reason. Troopers conducted the investigation at the scene, however, they were unable to provide an official cause. One of the vehicles involved was badly damaged and was towed by cleanup crews. Minor injuries were also reported in the crash, however, the report didn’t say how severe the injuries were. Medical personnel was also at the scene to treat the injuries. Luckily, all the drivers involved will be okay and make a quick recovery.
The cause of the crash is undetermined at this time but, a few things were ruled out at the scene. Alcohol and speed were ruled out by troopers after the initial investigation. Yakima Road was partially blocked while the scene was cleared by cleanup crews. One trooper was spotted directing traffic. Yakima Road is now open for travel but drivers are urged to be careful. Neither driver was arrested or faced a citation for the accident but this may change as the investigation continues.
