Widow wrongfully denied life insurance proceeds results in $945,000 settlement
After Plaintiff’s husband died from an undetermined cause, Plaintiff was denied the proceeds of her husband’s life insurance policy. The life insurance policy at issue required that death be accidental in nature in order to recover the proceeds. The insurance company denied Plaintiff’s claim, asserting that it had no evidence the death was accidental. Subsequently, Will Ferguson & Associates uncovered evidence indicating the insurance company was aware the death was, in fact, accidental, yet it had refused to pay Plaintiff’s claim. For its mishandling of Plaintiff’s claim and bad faith in dealing with Plaintiff, Will Ferguson & Associates secured a settlement for our client worth more than double the life insurance policy proceeds initially at issue.
