Taos County Sheriff’s identify Kirk Bergman of El Prado as the motorcyclist that was killed on Highway 75.
Police say Bergman was riding his motorcycle down Hwy 75 prior to the crash. Bergman came to a curve in the road about a half mile west of the rock wall along Highway 75. It is believed Bergman had some trouble navigating the road and crashed into another vehicle.
Bergman was tossed from his bike and rolled at least twice before coming to a rest. The driver in the car was also injured in the crash. Drivers passing the wreckage reported the collision to authorities who sent officers to respond. Medical personnel also arrived at the scene where they tried to save Bergman. Sadly, Kirk Bergman’s wounds were too severe to recover. The driver of the car was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is not complete but police believe speed and inattention were factors in the crash. We will stay current with the story and provide updates as they are released.
