A two-vehicle accident involving a Luna County Sherriff’s Deputy sent five passengers in a pick-up truck to an El Paso hospital with multiple injuries. The accident involved LCSO Deputy Donnie Daniels who was responding to a call of a pursuit that began in Hidalgo County.
Eye-witnesses indicated Daniels entered the intersection of Florida St. and Columbus Highway at a high rate of speed and t-boned a pick-up carrying two women and three children.
Four of the passengers in the pick-up truck were airlifted to University Medical Center in El Paso where they are listed in stable condition with various injuries.
Will Ferguson, an Albuquerque accident plaintiff’s lawyer, is actively monitoring circumstances surrounding this crash. “Police chase crash cases, almost without exception, involve officers operating outside their department guidelines, because of the risk we see here demonstrated so tragically. No one can outrun a radio, no arrest is worth an innocent family’s life. They would have gotten that guy without the chase, probably sooner rather than later” says Ferguson. More information will be forthcoming as we continue to evaluate this case.
