Gallup Police released a report about a bizarre set of events that left one man injured.
According to the report, a man driving on I-40 parked his vehicle on the shoulder of the road and began to run across traffic. Witnesses to the crash say the man then covered his eyes and ran back into oncoming traffic. This time, the man was struck by a vehicle, injuring him. Other drivers passing the wreckage stopped and assisting in pulling the man to safety. The bystanders then called the police who arrived at the scene shortly after.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene and transported the man to the hospital. Once there, he gave his statement to police where he complained of hearing voices. He told police that he let his paranoia get the better of him which led to him acting out. At the scene, police observed that the man appeared to be under the influence of some kind of drug. The man confirmed by telling officers one of his friends put something in his drink to assist with the long ride. Officers let the man go with a warning and was released from the hospital shortly after.
