Albuquerque police placed a local school under lockdown after a suspect crashed near a school.
The incident started when a man stole a vehicle near a business called Monte’s Cigars. The owner told police that the man stole the car and crashed into an Isuzu that was parked in front of the store. The driver that was inside the vehicle then staggered to Monte’s Cigars where the victim asked the owner for help. The man then collapsed and the owner called 911 in hopes of getting the man treatment. EMTs arrived at the scene in a short time and treated the man who was injured. At this time, the man’s condition is unclear.
Officers who responded to the incident and apprehended the suspect. Since the crash was violent, it shut down the intersection of Comanche and San Mateo Blvd. There were many witnesses to the crash who gave statements to police, however, the details of those conversations were not released. Witnesses to the crash, say several people were affected by the suspect as his inevitable capture came close. The crash also took place near a school causing the school to be locked down until the suspect was captured.
