New Mexico State Police say 42-year-old Mark Sharples was killed in a collision with an SUV in Dona Ana County.
Troopers say Sharples was riding his motorcycle on State Road 404 just before the crash. The report says an SUV was going the opposite way on State Road 404 when the driver drifted into oncoming traffic. Troopers didn’t say whether the vehicles collided head-on but the crash was fatal for Mark Sharples. The driver of the SUV sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash.
Troopers are now conducting an investigation into the crash and have not released an official cause. Alcohol was not mentioned in the report so it was likely ruled out at the scene. However, since the collision was fatal, police will check the data in the vehicles and likely test the condition of both drivers. It will be sometime before the investigation concludes. We will provide any updates as they are released.
We offer our condolences to the family of Mark Sharples and hope they are able to move forward in life.
