Troopers with the New Mexico State Police are investigating a collision between two trucks in Artesia.
According to report, a city-owned vehicle and a civilian vehicle was involved in the crash. The report didn’t state what led up to the crash, but the collision left the intersection of 5th and Main blocked. Emergency personnel was called to the scene and arrived after a short time. Medical personnel provided treatment to both drivers and the driver of the private-owned vehicle was taken to the hospital. His injuries were not severe and he is expected to make a full recovery.
The crash is still under investigation by state troopers, however, there has been no official cause. Both drivers gave police their statement, but neither driver was punished in the crash. Troopers were able to rule out impairment as a contributing factor after talking to both drivers. A report was taken and filed by the officers, but it’s likely neither driver will face criminal punishment. The matter will have to be settled in civil court and we will provide updates as they are released.
