New Mexico State Police responded to a crash between two 18-wheelers near Las Vegas.
According to the report, a car driven by Daniel Lucero was driving north in the southbound lanes of I-25 with his lights off. At the same time, a semi was driving north headed straight towards Lucero. The two vehicles collided head-on causing debris to scattered on the road. Another semi tried to avoid the collision but lost control of his vehicle. The second semi crossed the median and blocked the entire northbound lanes of I-25.
Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and began to work on clearing the driving lanes. While cleanup crews cleared the scene, medical personnel treated the injuries. Paramedics pronounced Daniel Lucero dead at the scene. Both drivers of the semi’s sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital and shortly released. A full investigation is being conducted into the crash, but as of now, police haven’t released any details. We will provide updates as they are released by NMSP.
