One motorcyclist is dead after a collision near San Mateo and Montgomery.
The initial report stated that a motorcycle was driving westbound on Montgomery prior to the crash. While the motorcycle was nearing Lovelace Hospital, another vehilce attempted to turn into the parking lot. The two vehicles collided and the motorcyclist was thrown from the vehicle. Both drivers were injured in the crash and since it occurred in front of a hospital, both were taken inside quickly. Although the motorcyclist was able to receive immediate treatment, his injuries were too severe and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the car was not seriously hurt and was treated at the hospital and released shortly.
Police arrived at the scene and began conducting an investigation into what happened. Since the crash took place in front of the hospital, police will check the cameras to see if they captured the accident. As of now, the surviving driver was not cited or arrested at the scene, however, this may change. It will take some time before the footage is obtained by police because of legal red tape. The identities of those involved have been kept secret until the investigation finishes. We will keep you updated as the story develops.
