Gallup Police released a report about a head-on collision that took place on State Highway 602.
According to the report, two vehicles were involved in the crash. Officers at the scene say the two vehicles were traveling in opposite direction before the crash. Investigators believe one of the drivers lost control of their vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic. At this time, police didn’t release the name of those involved because of the ongoing investigation. Officers were able to rule alcohol out at the scene but did not give an official cause. Also, neither of the drivers was cited or arrested at the scene for the crash.
As a result of the crash, one of the drivers was trapped inside his car. The report didn’t say how long the driver was trapped, however, fire and medical crews were able to extract and transport the driver. The person was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition. The occupants in the other vehicle were taken to the hospital via ambulance for their injuries. There is no further information on the condition of those involved. Neither of the drivers was cited or arrested for their involvement in the crash. This may change in the following days as evidence is processed. We will keep you updated as the information develops.
