Rio Rancho Police are investigating a routine beer delivery turned car crash.
According to the report, two Budweiser employees went a local brew house on the 300 block of Unser Blvd. Both employees exited the vehicle in order to make the delivery and the drivers involved say they did everything properly. The Budweiser employees then continued to make their deliveries without thinking anything was wrong. While the two men were making the deliveries, the truck carrying the beer began to roll down the hill. At first, no vehicle was in its path, however, this quickly changed as the vehicle drifted toward oncoming traffic.
Unaware of the danger headed their way, a southbound driving car was driving on a collision point with the Budweiser truck. The southbound driver was unable to avoid the crash and the truck hit the side of the vehicle. The truck then went on to crash into the wall of a local resident. The police were called to the scene and began to conduct their investigation. Both employees maintain that the emergency braking system was applied since they parked the truck on top of a hill. They told police that the crash was due to a mechanical malfunction.
Police were unable to find any mechanical malfunction on the truck. However, the crash was deemed accidental and no punishment was issued. The driver who was hit by the Budweiser truck sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment. There has been no word on the condition of the driver. We will provide updates as they are released by the Rio Rancho Police.
