Gallup Police are investigating a possible auto-pedestrian crash in the parking lot of a Golden Corral.
The report stated that the owner of a commercial vehicle found a man lying underneath his truck sleep on a backpack. The truck driver called the police to the scene where they began conducting an investigation. Police identified the man as Frank Yazzie Jr, who had a massive cut on his forehead. Paramedics were called to the scene where they began to treat Yazzie for his injuries.
The report didn’t state if Yazzie was transported to the hospital or his current condition. However, the report also stated Yazzie was suffering from at least one cracked vertebrae. Officers also noticed Yazzie had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. After spending some time at the scene, medical and police personnel concluded the injuries were consistent with being run over.
Police began inspecting the tractor-trailer that Yazzie was sleeping under for signs of a collision. Officers searched the entire vehicle and there were no blood or indicators of a crash on the tires or back of the vehicle. Police suspect another vehicle initially hit Yazzie causing his massive injuries. Police will likely check the cameras of the Golden Corral for any information, but that evidence has not been released yet. Check back in a few days for new information on the crash.
