Police are searching for the suspect driver that hit and killed an 8-year-old boy in Albuquerque.
Police say the boy was running across the street near Trumbull and Louisiana before the crash. As the boy was crossing the street, a red Dodge Durango struck the boy tossing him into the next lane. Then the boy was struck by a second vehicle a few seconds later. The driver of the Durango fled the scene without checking on the boy. The driver of the second vehicle stopped to provide assistance to the boy and called the police. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene where they did everything they could to save the boy. Unfortunately, his wounds were too severe and he was pronounced dead.
When police arrived at the scene, they talked to the driver and nearby witnesses and were able to conclude the driver of the Dodge Durango was responsible for the crash. APD is now looking for the Durango and is asking citizens to assist. The driver of the Durango is believed to have struck the fatal blow to the boy and police are searching to arrest him for his actions. The person will also face charges of leaving the scene and possibly homicide by vehicle. If you have any information, please contact the local police or news station so we can apprehend the suspect.
