45-year-old Randolfo Antillion-Quezada pleads not guilty for his involvement in a wrong way crash injured two people in Santa Fe County.
The initial report stated that Antillion-Quezada was driving south in the northbound lanes of U.S 84. Officers say Quezada and his passenger were coming from Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino which was within 10 miles of the crash. Quezada did not think to exit the roadway or try to get himself to safety and after a short time, the inevitable occurred. Antillion-Quezada’s vehicle smashed into an SUV that was trying to avoid the reckless driver.
Paramedics and police were called to the scene and they arrived within 20 minutes. The driver and passenger of the SUV both sustained injuries and were taken to a local hospital where they were treated and released. The unnamed driver of the SUV sustained a broken arm and the female passenger was relatively okay. Antillion-Quezada also sustained injuries in the collision but they were minor. He also refused a blood-alcohol test but admitted to drinking six beers prior to driving. Antillion-Quezada was arrested at the scene for charges of aggravated DUI and no proof of insurance.
A Santa Fe County Magistrate released Antillion-Quezada on a $2,500 unsecured bond. At this time it is unclear if the occupants of the SUV will file a lawsuit against Antillion-Quezada, but we will provide any updates that are released by police.
