State Troopers identified the man that was killed in a three-car crash on U.S. 84.
According to the report, a man named Robert Ulibarri was driving a white truck on U.S. 84 before the crash. For an unknown reason, Ulibarri veered into oncoming traffic where he continued driving. It’s believed that Ulibarri’s vehicle struck two cars before rolling and ejecting him from the vehicle. Police received many calls about the crash and emergency personnel rushed to U.S. 84. Initially, they came across the first vehicle that was hit. The driver of the car sustained a major arm injury and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The first crash wasn’t enough to stop Ulibarri from driving into oncoming traffic. A few moments after the first crash, his vehicle crashed into another car and did severe damage. Ulibarri’s car flipped at least twice and partially ejected him before coming to a rest. When emergency personnel arrived, cleanup crews and police cleared the scene while EMTs worked on injuries. Robert Ulibarri was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. One of the drivers of the other vehicles involved was taken to Espanola Hospital for treatment for his arm. The report didn’t say if the other driver was injured.
A full investigation is underway by NMSP and so far an official cause has not been released. We will keep you updated as the story develops.
