Roswell Police are searching for the driver connected to an accident that killed a motorcyclist.
Police believe the motorcyclist and white two-door were racing on South Main St and Charleston Ave prior to the crash. Undoubtedly, they were at high speeds during that race and it believes they two may have collided forcing the motorcyclist off the road. Street races are not uncommon to end in tragedy and pride is normally the cause. The motorcyclist was forced off the road, struck a pole, and was thrown from his vehicle.
Investigators identified the motorcyclist as 20-year-old Michael Torrez. His speed was clocked at about 180 miles per hour at the time of impact. With this knowledge, it is likely that the white car could have used shady tactics to gain an advantage. Witnesses couldn’t identify the model of the car, but they were able to tell police it has a turquoise New Mexico license plate. The driver will likely be identified in the following days. Stay tuned for updates on the story.
