Roswell Police are investigating a fatal car crash that claimed the life of Sean Michael Murphy.
According to the report, Murphy purchased alcohol from a local liquor store prior the crash. Officers found one empty bottle of 99 Bananas in Murphy’s vehicle and at least three other bottles were found. Just one of those bottles is about 49% alcohol. The report also says Murphy consumed about seven shots before driving to the liquor store. Witnesses to the crash observed Murphy going at high speeds while traveling southbound on Main Street. In his drunken state, Murphy crashed into a box truck containing two people.
The crash resulted in the death of Sean Murphy and both occupants of the box truck being injured. A good samaritan that saw the wreckage pulled both occupants of the box truck free. Emergency personnel responded to the crash after a short time and set to work. Along with two people being injured and one person dead, one of the vehicles caught flames. Firefighters were needed at the scene as well. While paramedics were treating injuries, p0lice began their investigation. From talking to witnesses, they were able to determine Murphy was going at least 90mph in a 50mph zone.
The crash is still under investigation and Roswell Police and at this time, there are waiting for the results of the autopsy. We will provide updates as they are released by Roswell Police.
