A string of hit-and-run crashes in Albuquerque has left city officials and officers scrambling to make a change.
Around 8 a.m. two Sundays ago, a man who has chosen to remain unidentified told police he was walking home prior to the incident. The man was walking south on San Pedro and he says the truck was driving west on Southern Ave. The suspect vehicle was likely a stolen SUV but that information has not been confirmed. The vehicle hit the man with the right side of the vehicle causing him to be thrown to the ground. He was severely injured as a result of the crash. Luckily, there were people nearby who were able to call authorities and provide assistance to the man.The crash must have scared the driver and passenger and witnesses saw two women exit the SUV and flee on foot. EMTs arrived at the scene and provide initial treatment before taking the man to a local area hospital. Officers at the scene talked to witnesses but were not able to gather an accurate description. The man is suffering from some bruising and a cracked hip as a result of the crash, but he is lucky to be alive. Authorities are asking residents who have information about this crash to call 505-242-2677. Although it has been nearly two weeks since the crash, police believe the suspects will be apprehended soon.
