Taos Police released an incident report about a two-vehicle crash that took place on Valverde Street.
Taos Police received the call around 1:50 p.m. about a man bleeding from his face due to a car crash. Emergency personnel rushed to Valverde Street near Ranchitos Road and arrived after a short time. When policed arrived, both drivers were present and conscious. One of the vehicles involved was a black Pontiac, however, there was no description of the other vehicle. The airbags deployed on one of the vehicles injuring the driver. Paramedics provided treatment to the man but did not say if he was taken to the hospital.
An official cause was not given by officers at the scene and the crash is still under investigation. The person who called the police also gave investigators their statement, but only details of the 911 call were released. At this time, neither driver will face criminal punishment for the crash. It is likely the matter will be settled in civil court. There is no further information about the crash or the condition of the drivers involved. We will provide updates as they are released by the Taos PD.
The intersection of Valverde and Ranchitos is back open, but drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
