New Mexico State Police are investigating the death of two Utah women after a crash in Albuquerque.
According to the report, Kelly and Laura Stubbs were traveling on U.S. 180 near Buckhorn. Investigators say the car the Stubbs’ were in crossed into oncoming traffic and struck another vehicle head-on. The crash happened around 6 a.m., so it is likely the driver fell asleep behind the wheel. The crash was violent and ended with devastating results. Both Kelly and Laura Stubbs were killed as a result of the crash and another passenger was seriously injured. The passenger was identified as Laura Pratt who was flown to a hospital in Tuscon.
The driver of the other vehicle was also injured in the crash but declined treatment at the scene. This is likely because the others were seriously injured and needed constant attention. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the calls and blocked off the inside lanes of Hwy 180. Investigators talked to the other driver of the crash who explained what happened. Officers did not give an official cause of the crash and it will likely be a few weeks before new data is released.
