The Albuquerque Police Department released a report about an auto-pedestrian crash that took place near the Seven Bar Loop.
According to the report, a pedestrian was crossing the Coors Bypass in the northwestern part of Albuquerque. While still in the crosswalk, the pedestrian was struck by a full-sized pickup. It’s unclear who call the police, but after a short time, emergency personnel arrived. Paramedics at the scene pronounced the person dead but could not identify them. The report didn’t say whether the person was carrying identification or not. However, a spokesperson with the APD said they still have not contacted the next-of-kin or identified the victim. At this time there is no further information on the victim.
Investigators at the scene didn’t say much about the cause of the collision. Also, no witnesses have come forward at this time so investigators have minimal information. They were able to rule out alcohol and speed as factors in the crash for the driver. As of now, the driver was allowed to leave the scene, his name was not released because he is not charged with any crime. Police are waiting for the toxicology report of the person killed and we will let you know the results as they are released. Check back for updates on the story as it develops.
