Two drivers are dead after their cars collided head-on in the southbound lanes of I-25 at Comanche in Albuquerque early Sunday, September 20th.
Albuquerque police said the wrong-way driver who caused the crash has been identified as Angel Romero, 22. The victim has been identified as 21 year old Nicalette Baca. According to police, an ambulance driver reported seeing Romero driving more than 100 miles per hour in the wrong direction on I-25. Moments after the ambulance driver notified police, calls began flooding 911 about the head-on collision.
The collision shut down the interstate for five hours. Police say it is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision. He says the Office of the Medical Examiner will have to make that determination.
“These types of wrong-way highway accidents are typically drivers who are drunk, drugged, or both” states Will Ferguson, New Mexico accident attorney. “When the Medical Examiner results are released, that will give a starting point to the legal investigation. Bars should not continue serving alcohol to people that are obviously drunk. Law firms like Will Ferguson & Associates enforce those dram shop laws to keep the community safe”. Ferguson continues. “Hopefully the family of the young woman who was killed in this preventable accident will seek a law firm with the experience and resources to help them”.
